Cryptocurrency hidden mining viruses attack computers and smartphones

The hackers find ever more opportunities to use alien power for cryptocurrency acquisition, and this problem is increasing in geometric progression. Kaspersky Lab data show that the hidden miners programs were fixed in 2.2 million computers of users worldwide in the last quarter. Over three months, about 14 thousand new infected devices were discovered.

While the popularity of “racketeering” viruses drops, the hidden mining takes speed. Such a virus is capable of infecting a wide variety of devices. If the acquisition of Bitcoin on your home computer is impractical because it requires special equipment, then the new cryptocurrency can be obtained even in the browser directly and even on mobile devices and tablets.

Kaspersky Lab warns – a hidden mining can lead to an increase in electricity bill, device malfunction, even its falling out. It is also possible that the hackers can stop the acquisition of cryptocurrency and use more radical methods of earning money – requesting file encryption and redemption fees.
